My name is Claudia Tejera and like many of you, I am an International Medical Graduate. I completed medical school in the Dominican Republic and moved to the USA following a dream of becoming a physician in the USA. My journey was not a straight line and frustration was a common feeling, but with hard work and guidance, I was able to achieve my goals and match my dream residency program, where I had the honor of being selected to serve as Chief Medical Resident.
Having a seat at the other side of the table has taught me the importance of paying attention to details you did not prioritize before; from the word you use to describe yourself on paper to the way you maintain good eye contact during your interview. I am a strong believer in the power of the mind and that you can achieve your goals by planning yourself and utilizing the right strategies.

Hi, my name is Gustavo Avila I am an International Medical graduate from Honduras. Since medical school, I started dreaming about doing a residency in the USA but felt lost at the beginning on where to start.
After reading testimonials, studying, and networking a lot, I was able to match my Dream Residency. 3 years later I was privileged to be able to serve as Chief Resident.
It is unfortunate how many applicants have impressive credentials, but fail in these last steps of the application process, like the ERAS submission and Interviews, which could lead to a non-favorable outcome. Having the experience of interviewing applicants and being part of the selection process has shown me how important these parts of the process are. I Believe in the power of preparation, and that luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
